Update! Well some.....disagreeable woman of far below average intelligence clipped my LS400 last friday. Luckily the only damage done was a destroyed bumper cover and left side headlight assembly.
So anyway, I'll be making a new bumper cover out of sheet steel (26 ga to start). I really wasn't a big fan of the first gen LS400 front end anyway (just meh). These headlights for the Jetta mk4 won't fit without at least setting them with a wide offset, making a corner blinker delete necessary. Part of the large inner sheet metal that makes up most of the internal front structure just gets in the way. Also, on the passenger side, some AC lines get in the way. I'm going to keep on going with this, but I'm not sure just how possible a drop in kit would be for these.
thanks for the thread bump, never seen this as possible! please keep us updated. i've always wanted to change 95-97 headlights but didn't want to go with the Depos.

Well now. Not satisifed with the very mediocre fit of the mk4 headlight that would require it to be mounted 3 inches forward of the standard mount, by luck I found an OEM headlight (non-toyota) part that is available in such numbers that it might make this mod within the reach of many 1st gen owners
So here's a sneak preview. I am going to fab up some brackets this weekend. The brackets will allow for leveling adjustment via three screw in an identical fashion to the way the orginal Lexus part worked.
P.S. I plan on filling in the gap on the fender that previously allowed for that hideous turn signal. Turn signal will be relocated as corner turn signal on bumper.

Reason: ps
UPDATE! Got the brackets so they mount into the stock headlight recepticles, more or less (rough fit with zip ties). Got them wired up. Had to use the flash on my camera when the headlights were on to get it to show clearly, but it makes it yellowish, but it does not appear yellow in the slightest in reality.
Headlights are from a 2003 Ford Ranger XLT FX4, BTW.
