Default Factory Installed Cell Phone Problems

I have a 95 LS with the factory installed phone, which I don't use. A few weeks ago it started turning on and off by itself, on turns and stops. Every time it turns on there is that loud tone in the rear door speaker, and it is driving me CRAZY. If I pull the fuse, the sound system turns off since this is integrated into the speaker. I don't know what is worse - no music or that damn random tone.

Does anyone know how I can terminate the power to the remotely located cell phone electronics without pulling the fuse ? Where is the phone electronics located ? I think the handset only controls the phone, it doesn't contain the electronics.

I love this car but I am going crazy driving it. The Chicago dealer charges me at least $700 whenever I take it in, so that is a last resort.

You can unplug the phone receiver by popping out the front console insert. The phone receiver connectors are under the air vents that you see when you raise the arm rest. You may also have to unplug the main phone ECU in the trunk -- I don't know where it is in a 95 LS400 but it is the floor well on the right side of the trunk in a 2000 LS400. If it is like the 2000 LS400, there are two large connectors from the OEM wiring harness plugged into the trunk phone ECU. After you unplug these two large connectors, plug them into each other the complete the circuit.

Portions of the phone harness can be used with a more modern phone kit including a Bluetooth kit. There is an audio system mute pin in the connector on the driver's side under the front console and there is a phone antenna imprinted on the rear window.

Thanks for the precise advice ! I unplugged the main phone ECU in the trunk, plugged these large connectors together and I can once again enjoy driving this car.
