Default Ok to use DOT4 in 91 LS400?

Was reading the label on a bottle of Prestone Synthetic DOT4 brake fluid. It says:

Good for all DOT 3 & 4 brake systems.
Recommended for all ABS, Disc and Drum brake systems....requiring DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids.
Compatible with all conventional brake fluids.

Just wanted to ask if anyone had any opinions on the subject - i.e., is there any reason I shouldn't use the DOT 4 in my 91 LS when I flush my brake system? Thanks.

I do it - I have ATE Type 200 fluid in my car now, I'm switching it out to ATE Super Blue soon. DOT 4 has higher wet/dry boiling point since it also has borate esters in it - making it a touch less hygroscopic.

Yup..I used it in my prelude and integra before..purple color was my dot4...
worked good...make sure you do a good evacuation of all the old dot3, before putting in the good stuff..

how much more did yours cost?

It's not engine oil. For brake fluid, I'd stick to Vavoline SynPower, Castrol GT-LMA, ATE Super Blue/Type 200/SL DOT 4, or Pentosin Super DOT 4.

the 3 companies (except royal purple which i just realized doesnt make brake fluid) make good brake fluid but ATE super blue is also a pretty good (but very expensive) choice.
