Looks like 18" rims with tires in the 225 - 255 range seem to be the most common with many CL members.
Well, since you've got a '98, and you're going with coilovers (not sure if permanent, or temporary until you get air) I'd recommend upsizing to 19s. While 18s are nice, you would have to be quite low to pull them off (which is probably beyond that level of function that you hoped to maintain by getting 18s in the first place) in a UCF2x.

Default fyi for those with stock rims

i've got a 92 ls400, with the stock chrome wheels. replaced the original tires 205/65/15 with 225/60/15s. the fyi part is that the 225/60/15s came out to be a little taller than the old tires. can't understand why? i thought the 225/60s would have been close to the same hight or shorter but they are taller. i think i'm gonna try the 235/60/15s.

Thanks. Gonna do the job this weekend and we'll see how it looks/rides on the 16's first and then I can determine how much more wheel I can tuck.

Finally I get to post in here. I have had my 92 for 3-1/2 years now i been dailying it the whole time. Finally pulled the trigger and started the build I figured its now or never. There was a huge ordeal with the tired shop I went to but I'll post that in another thread. But here she is for now sorry for the cell phone pics crunched for time today.

Nice. Waffe's are a good choice on the UCF1x, I much prefer the fuller face to a spoked or mesh look on that body style.

how are you liking those tires?

Thanks I too love the full face wheels look on 1ls and waffle has been my dream wheel for years now. Haven't seen other first gens with them either.

Tires are OK for the price they're a little on the noisey side but ride OK only time will tell though.

I actually plan on making them to 19x10&11 next summer I might do a big stretch with the tires I have on now. If I do it I need to pull the fenders some. And my phone keeps auto correcting to waffle when I spell waffe lol.

My wheels used to be all black. Got tired of the look, so i stripped the paint down to bare aluminum. Sanded the lips starting with a 80grit and worked my way up. They had some bad oxidation on the lips under the old paint. Then I just spray bombed the centers a gloss black for now. What do you guys think?

I just ordered 18 x 8 Tourmalines for 2000 LS400. Will this fit as is on the vehicle w/o the need for any other adjustments?
