My 1992 w/ 2018 Toyota Sienna 17" OEM wheels and 225/50/17 tires. Just happened to run across them online for $225 (all 4!) fresh off a new Sienna at a Toyota lot. The offset put me just under being flush with the fenders. Trying to decide if I need a drop with H&R spring but don't want to scrub... at all. Not interested in coilovers due to the firm ride.

Hi Guys,
I have read all of the posts in this thread but still a little gun shy on purchasing wheel and tires, I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I have a 1990 LS400 that for now is totally stock, my plan was to buy a set of 18" x 7.5" 45mm LS430 wheels and mount a set of 235/40/R18's on them, then when I get the funds purchase a set of BC coil overs and drop the car a couple of inches.. Will this combo work without rubbing? I don't really want to roll the inner fender lips. I'm open to all suggestions.
Thanks in advance
Pete

You really want 245\45\18, it's within 0.3% of the OEM spec so your speedo' will still be accurate. I don't know if you can upsize one tick on those rims to a wider tire. Mine are 18x8 while yours are 18x7.5.
You don't need to roll and there will be no rub since the overall diameter will be nearly identical. If you drop the car "a couple of inches" then you very well might rub.

Thanks for the reply Fanboy, the car still has the original wheels that are 205/65/R15 that are according to tiresize.com are 25.5 tall, 8.1" wide, 5.2 sidewall the 235/40/R18's spec out at 25.4 tall, 9.3" wide, 3.7" sidewall. I looked up the 245/45/R18's and they are 26.7 tall, 9.6" wide, Unless I'm missing something the 235/40/R18 are more closely matched to the originals? And i'm thinking that the 245's might be a little wide for the LS430 wheel at 7.5 like you suggested. I thought a read somewhere that the 1rst gen cars have smaller wheel wells than the later cars?? I'm not looking to put this car on the ground I just want to lower it a bit like a lot of the other guys on this forum, they do look much better set down a 1' or so. I wouldn't mind a slightly firmer ride as well. Slightly..

i have 235-40 18's and the speedo is spot on well 1 mph off maybe
92...yes,bc coil overs...if i go up a driveway at a certain angle i rub a little
Your car looks killer with that setup! Do you recall what offset your wheels are, and how would you compare the ride with the BC coil overs compared to stock, night and day, slightly stiffer???
Thanks again
