I was wondering if I could get some feedback as to the smoothness of the ride (with larger rims) compared to the stock rims & wheels?

I'd really love to put some 5 point star rims on my car--17 or 18 inch would work.

The parts guy gave me the specifications on my stock rim:

5 lug bolt pattern: 114.5mm distance from the center point of one lug to the one across.
ET 38mm Offset -- whatever the ET means.

I have spring/gas shock/strut suspension, not air, btw.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

depends on the size you go up to and the tire you choose.

A popular setup for LS400s is to upgrade to later model LS430/ GS350/460 18" factory wheels. The LS430 was offered in a factory 18" wheel with 245/45-18 tires and was one of the best riding cars offered at the time. The 245/45-18 size on an OEM 18" rim with the touring/comfort tire of your choice will give you the look you want without overly compromising ride comfort.

This thread and the stickied threads at the top of the LS400 forum will help you with any further questions you may have.

Default Style 95 wheel on 94 LS400

Hello;

I just pick up a 94 LS400 and wondering will a Style 95 wheels fit on LS400? Do I need spacers or redrill the wheels? My goal is not to redrill and just use an adapter if possible.

Thank You!

depending on drop and tire size, you will need to massage your fenders for them to work on a 1LS.

All of you that replied,

Thank You!

Mikiels400: Where can I get these adapters from?

Timmy0tool: I haven't lower the car yet? Tanable springs or coilovers? I'm thinking about getting the wheels first
and lower the car.

Thank You!

if its redrilled and low enough then you probably don't need major fender mods
regular fender shave/Roll is enough

Anyone know if the Tourmaline 18X8's with 45mm offset are a good match for my 97 LS400?

There's a set posted on CL in Phoenix for $650. I just made a verbal commitment to buy 'em. They include some 245/40-18 tires with 90% tread left, but I would replace those with 245/45 rubber to get the correct overall diameter.

Thoughts?

what are they off of? no guarantee they'll clear your front brakes.

The seller had them on an SC430, but is the second owner of the wheels, so I'm not sure what car they were originally on. They've apparently never touched a curb and are blemish free. He posted the following list of compatible cars:

As a newbie, my question about the potential brake clearance issue is - 18" is larger dia. than the 16" stock, so is it the caliper possibly interfering with the back of the wheel due to the offset?

Thanks for the help...

You need a bigger pad or disk( ie High disk, R-disk) to clear the front brakes

If I've got the fender clearance, would wheel spacers do the job?
