Default 91 w/ issues

This just started happening last night. When I press on the brake pedal, my reverse light in my gauge cluster lights up and there is a quick jerk in the car, like its gripping harder than it should for a quick second and I'm not quite sure if its wiring or if it's due to having the car parked outside in the snow instead of a heated garage. My main concern is whether or not it may cause my brakes to go out while I'm driving. Like I said, I live in Michigan and it's snowing right now and it's bad enough coming to a dead stop I don't need to loose all braking ability together. Anybody else ever experience this or have an idea what it may be?

Not sure, but perhaps it may be related to trunk hinge wiring issue (do a search)? It seems lots of wacky problems are resolved by repairing the one or more wires that commonly break in the left trunk hinge.

Reverse light - The "R" in the gauge cluster when you put the shifter into reverse.

Hmm, it did happen when I THOUGHT my trunk was closed. But that wouldn't explain the brakes acting all weird could it? This is why I hate when everything is electrical, cause if one thing goes wrong, it leads to 2, 3, 4 other things.

just check the Trunk hinge wiring harness.

also check the transmission gear selector switch (if this was bad it would be throwing codes)

Default Almost certainly the trunk wiring harness

Hey, I had that same problem about a month ago, and it was the ground wire in trunk wiring harness. I would push the brakes and the reverse light would come on along with the tranny not shifting past 2nd gear (I know, really weird). I took the electrical tape and split tubing off the harness at about the center of the harness (where it is attached to the trunk hinge) and when I looked at it, there was nothing wrong, but the minute I pulled on the white wire with the black stripe (ground wire), it pulled right out, having corroded apart. Once I fixed it, I haven't had a problem since. Those electrical problems are really weird. Good luck!
