Default My 500 Mile Road trip

I had to go from NYC to Scranton PA, then to another location in PA west of Scranton and back to NYC. I had to see the breeders for the dog I am looking for.
As always, LS performed well. I got 26.6 MPG for the whole trip. I filled up at the start of the trip and 465 miles later I still have 1/4 of a tank.
I love this car, but I wish it had a stiffer suspension and better steering.

Still, God bless Lexus for its dependability.

what year was this in?

and stiffer susp like a bilstein/eibach or kyb/tanabe setup will lower the car just enough to make it driveable over bumps and also stiffen the steering up nicely.

Ditto -

I drove mine from Houston to Miami, FL round trip. It was an awesome trip - the LS is a fantastic road car. After I re-engineered my suspension my LS drives like never before.

This was today, with a 98 LS.
I did the same trip before with my 92 S500 MB. a few years back. Two different things.

If you drove between 60MPH and 65MPH you could possibly average about 28-29. I just dont know how you would survive driving that slow on the Interstate though, these cars feel like 55MPH at 80 or 90

If you wanted one with stiffer suspension you should've gotten the one with adjustable suspension option.

..the air ride isnt in any way "stiffer" than the spring setup....its a good bit more floaty.

We've had ours out for some 2,200 round trips...very nice long distance car. No matter what, after 6-8 hours sitting there, I'm happy to get out. The longest one shot haul (with some breaks for gas/food/---) has been ~875 miles.

That's a good point about being happy to get out. With all the work I have done to my LS and loving to drive it....the trip to Miami and back was a long one - nice to get out of the seat is absolutely right

I dont think after an 8 hour trip, any car would still feel good.

I had my lex on a 1300 mile (round trip) excursion back in November and it was the most comfortable ride I've ever experienced. No body fatigue whatsoever. These cars are incomparable on the road.

Strange, for instance my parents 2000 S500 has three suspension settings, and there's quite a bit of difference in stifness.
