Default after crash--Transmission won't shift out

After I was involved in a relatively low speed collision with a fence, my ls400s transmission won't shift out of N.
So me and VAL768 on here, were both there and we're baffled by why the transmission is like this, everything else is still perfect except for some minor bumper damage and the engine runs perfectly.
VALLI suggested we jack it up and hit the transmission a couple times rofl lol

Any theories as to why i can't shift?

Hmm...
So it is about tranny.
I don't think jacking up the car and checking around will do any help to your situation. Even if it runs again, still I cant gambling to drive on it.

Just take it to a tranny specialty store and ask pro's opinion. Prob cost your $60 +/- to inspect it but at least that is from the pro's view!

Sorry, could not give you any better idea.

okay so i've come to the conclusion that the tranny is bad, how much would it really cost for a replacement? Just an estimate would be good for you pros :]

I'm just thinking if its worth fixing or not, but honestly I want to convince my dad to get like 95-96ls4
anyone know how cheap you can get a 95ls from a dealership?

why do you want another LS?

iirc, you crashed ur 1st gen taking a turn stupidly fast and understeering into a fence post.......

maybe you need something a bit more "sporting".

Not sure what year your LS is. I have an extra transmission taken out of a totaled 1991 Lexus LS400. Only 82K on it. Transmission was unharmed.

I got a good deal at $400 for it. It's just sitting in front of my apartment. I would be willing to sell it for $500. I live in CA. Let me know if you're interested.

Your linkage is binding , you need to jack up the car as the motor mounts and or tranny mount have allowed it to move out of place. Get it straight again and you'll be fine. Once in the air check the linkage under the shifter below the car.

VAL! Can i just pee in your snorkel? You'll gain 10 HP!!!!
sport nutz, we'll see if i really need a new tranny because i honestly thought it was odd that my tranny would get messed up from such a low level crash
puredrifter, i learned my lesson ok and i'll move up to something "sporting" when the time comes :]

anyways my dad is messing with me and hes telling me to FIX THE CAR if i want to ever drive again...............................................
thats discipline for me (i have no knowledge of cars.)

ok question
does anyone know of an alternative method to get the hood to pop open? This is because i can't latch it open from the inside and i can see the mechanism that is holding the hood down shut but i cannot make it budge for my life!
