I stuck between a 93 LS400 w/82k on it and a 97 LS400 coach edition w/124k. The 93 one owner all records. The 97 somewhat records from the dealer(I called and gave the vin#) but it hade 100k sevice but doesn't show t-belt being done @the stealership. One car is about 7k or lessfor the 93, the 97 is 9k. Both cars are clean

ummmm...I just changed my T-belt, for the first time, on my 93 LS with 205K miles on it. So, don't let the T-belt discourage you from getting the 97. If that's what you really want???? On the other hand, I would try to negotiate the 93 to a lesser price. It sounds like its in good shape and you can save yourself some $$$. good luck!

There were a number of fixes and upgrades on the 2nd gen LS400...

...one of the first being BIGGER FRONT BRAKES! And a 97 Coach Edition, nice leather? Get the 97. I drive a 92 (not that I don't love the car, but I did drive a 99 Blk on Blk and loved it. Of course, couldn't afford it...yet.

I'm watching those Toyota Tundra commericals and drooling at the size of those rotors.

The 95-97 had some good upgrades, including that plush coach leather.
What color schemes are they?

I was ONLY looking for a 95-97 LS, when I found the 99 blk/blk one I ended up buying. Yeah, I spent a few thousand more, but you won't regret spending a little more on the 97 and getting more car.

I would go by Miles/Maintenance first, then stuff like colors and options second. But it really comes down to what you want. Different people got different priorities and plans. Like for example my LS I just got had higher miles than some of the other ones I looked at, but it was the only one with the Interior color scheme I wanted. One thing I said from the start was I didn't want to have to completely re-do the Interior so that was a big factor for me. I have plans to re-paint the car anyway so exterior color didn't matter and it happened to be a few grand cheaper, so I went for it. I guess the bottom line is do what makes you happy.

Thanks for the input LS lovers, I test drove the 97. It was pretty clean on the exterior, the power ant. needs replacing. Needs factory mats some generic mats inside,The car is Pearl white w/beige interior. Really not my color choice. It drove smooth, but lack acceleration, noisey tires I believe, two was worn. I thought these cars have a trip computer that tells you you avg. mpg? I gonna test another second gen to how it compare to this car.

GS3 will be slow too (at least stock it will be)
may be slower than the 97 LS.

Gs4 will have a lot better accel since the gearing is shorter.
