as long as the bulb is yellow it follows CVC without issues. CVC doesnt state that you need amber reflectors in the front, only that the turn signals (lights) need to be red/amber.

One can be cited for non-approved lighting device which enough of these parts are not DOT-SAE spec/approved. Depends on the officer how technical they want to pursue the equipment violation.

i ran clear bumper lights on my old LS for a decent amount of time and my CHP buddy looked it over and said i shouldnt get any trouble as long as the light is orange.

My question are are the ones available truly DOT/SAE approved? Some sites state it is but I suspect not. If you have them, I'd be curious to see the molded stamp in the lens and whom you bought from. TIA. I'll buy a set if it has that imprint.

(I've had my time of equipment violations on prior cars...doing the drill now is a cause I know better.)
They are not I have have had both types, the clear and now the crystal.
The crystal ones do reflect back the orange color because of the chrome inside and the orange bulb... I don't think you would ever get a ticket for them , as long as you use orange bulbs.

Are you guys getting these off ebay? A couple sellers have them for about $60 shipped.

If not ebay, where? Thanks!

www.lextasy.com has them - I got them there. Would like orange bulbs though - can't find them locally.

I've been using polarg's (way back when) and hyper-white LEDs ever since I've had clear signals and haven't any problems whatsoever with police or CHP. I've been pulled over a couple times for no front plate/tints and also once at night for no reason at all...none of the officers commented on my lights being clear and having white bulbs in them. Maybe I've been lucky.

theres no law saying clear bulbs are illegal, there are 4 legal colors for turn signals: clear, amber, yellow, and red.
