I replaced the canister on my 96. You need to remove the fender well liner from the front driver fender well. It's tucked behind the front bumper, right under the battery. Some of the bolts to remove/install it are a bear to reach. Got it from Sewell: Product #:77740-50041, Lexus OEM Charcoal Canister Assembly, Quantity:1, Price:$197.34, Item Total:$197.34

Vapor Canister
I have a part #95411-19930 superseded by 95411-19960 & I still cant find this part in my normal lexus parts look-up sights??
Perhaps I can get lucky & the problem is with the vent valve.
My mechanic now thinks I can just replace the BVSV & fix the problem.

1996 UCF21 Charcoal Cannister
Members,
In the interest of not creating a thread for something minor, but just out of curiosity...I choose to post a question about my charcoal canister here...
I was flushing my radiator and when under my 1996 Celsior (UCF21-1UZFE) I noticed that I had a line clogged off, when searching this line, it seemed to led to my Charcoal Cannister . From the pic below, is this line supposed to be clogged off ? Further more, How can one confirm that this Charcoal Cannister is working ? Could a faulty charcoal cannister be causative to the problem being identified in my mother thread ? https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...s-to-half.html

It's supposed to plug into part # 77770 which is the charcoal canister tank assembly and is attached to the lower wind guide which is the cover that attaches to the sides of the fender liners in the middle of the bumper.

I really don't know but I've been doing a little reading about various parts of the evap system and issues that might arise when something is not working properly in the system. Granted I have not seen anything related to Lexus but all these systems work about the same so take it for what it's worth. Even though this does not seem to be your problem read this ok.

Sha, Its interesting how you are able to link my issues to those identified in that of another thread. Though they are 2 different vehicles, I will take into consideration the following;
1) The fact that
" the engine meets certain temperature and driving criteria, the PCM issues a purge command to the charcoal canister to remove the stored gas vapors. It’s at that point that all the liquid gas in the line gets sucked into the charcoal canister. The PCM expects to see gas vapors entering the intake manifold and it is prepared to adjust air/fuel mixtures to compensate. However, it is not prepared to see liquid gas coming into the intake. That’s what causes the engine to stall."
2) The fact that
"the black smoke ( rich mixture) coming out of the tailpipe"
Why take these into consideration ?
My issue only occurs at a certain temp---ie..Half temp
When my issue occurs, it black smokes.
When my issue occurs, the scent of carbon is high--i.e running too rich.
I guess, now its just to locate this vapor/liquid separator valve on my 1996 UCF21

You probably have to follow the lines on top of the canister. It's most likely going to lead to the tank or engine. here's the diagram for Gen2.
