I did a quick search but did not find anything about this. I have a 94 LS400 and found we do not have a lot of options for shift *****. I myself like the gated shifter off the newer models. Has anyone done or thought of a conversion to the newer shifter. I've seen older muscle cars with late model shifters, so I thought it might not be too difficult. What do you guys think?
not worth it at all. it would be purely custom, the trans from later models dont just bolt in. the shifting mechanisms are totally different as well since the transmissions were slightly altered for 95+.
J's used to make a gated **** kit but have been out of business for a few years now...
No offense Drifter, I was told this many times by the stealerships and a few others, so I did not mean anything towards you. This mod cost me $150 and about 3 hours labor. All that I need now is for **** to be sent out to be redone for another $60.

maybe im getting the prices confused with the guy who put an R154 on his SC4
post up a pricelist/directions so we can see what ya did
Well, I was checking ebay and someone is selling a gated shifter unit from a 99 LS I believe. Just giving a heads up if anyone is thinking of trying this mod. No ebay links are allowed so if you are interested in the part just search for it yourself.
Yep, they are fine unless you are the person selling or promoting the item being sold.
That said here is the link. The only problem I see with using this 98-00 version is it is for a 5-speed auto trans, whereas the 90-97 LS is a 4 speed. Maybe a gated shifter from the 97 SC might be a better choice.
