Well, I took the car to a spray carwash one night to get some gravel dust off the ride, and the watter blew the paint off the front bumper.

Tonight, I'm not going to say how, but the paint is messed up on the rear bumper BAD. The black and the gray is just scraped and is cracking.

So I know that the cost of getting the bumpers repainted will be alot because of the stupid Two-toned paint, but is it worth it to keep it two toned? OR should I monotone it?

The front isn't nearly as bad as the rear, so I may skip the front. If it's going to cost $2200 to just monotone the car, then what would it cost to paint the bumpers two colors?? The only problem areas with black are the idiotic side skirts!! They flow down and around the car and all kinds of crap is flung up onto to the car and if the skirts are black, then rocks, glass, debris, etc. will make the scars on the paint more noticable.

I'm debating now on whther or not to put the Wald V3 kit on it. It replaces the bumpers and puts new side skirts on the car. If I replaced the bumpers, it would make the painting cheaper because it would require less work to sand them and prep them. But the price tag of $1500 is a bite in the ***!

What would you do in this situation?

monotoning the car assuming there arent any repairs needed shouldnt cost you more than $1100 TOPS. now that could go up if u need the rest of the bumpers (top parts) painted but should def. max out at around $1300-1400.

if u get the wald kit what do you plan on changing the wheels to?

Wald wheels. That's pretty much the only thing that would go nicely with them. The 18s wouldnt go good at all.

Is there any kits out there that are not very aggressive? No, the black parts are fine, except for a spot on the rear. Would monoetone look good on my 18s?

monotone would look fine on your 430 wheels but a kit need something more aggressive (my HRES )

if the black is pretty much alright then it should be more than $1100. say $1250 to touch up the rear bumper too.

Hahahaha! $3400!+ International shipping. I could have a 1st generation LS for that. After seeing some of the 1st gens on this site, I seriously want one.

I like that first kit. What is memory fabs site? The mac Blick is just a bit strange up front, because the lip doesnt flow very well, but I like the rest of it.

I had my car monotoned for around $1500 and had some scratches removed from the back bumper.
My car was also pearl white tri coat which cost a bit more.

I would go monotone without question.. Your car will look a bit newer since the newer Lexus models are all monotoned.

Definitely Monotone!!!! I never liked the 2 tone overall, but the black and dark grey like you have was the only combination I somewhat liked. Your car looks so nice and clean as is, especially with the LS430 wheels, and going with a monotone would really set it off!!! I had the L-Sportline kit repainted and installed for $700, in a monotone gold, but this wasn't thru a shop, but it came out like a pro shop would have done (friend who is a DuPont instructor doing it in his spare time). So, taking that into account, it shouldn't be more than $1000 to repaint by a true shop.

So back home, I found a shop who would paint the whole underbody for 1600 bucks...=( dear god.

Then here in Corvette city, I found a nice shop that has 35 years experience, and they want $600 or less to paint to paint the bumpers and sides...removing them and painting them.

Should I go for it?

The only problem I have with the way the car is now, is messing up the paint on the side skirts. Anyone with a 95-00 LS400 knows that a day after washing their LS, they have **** all up on the side of their car. I want aftermarket side skirts for the reason, and a rear/front skirt to match...

Just curious.. did you happen to walk around the shop and see #1 the types of vehicles they work on and #2 the quality of work they do? I'm in the car business and I know it's often tempting to go with the cheaper paint shop to have stuff done, but I would hate for you to get a good deal now and have to repaint, or even wetsand later because of orangepeel or the runs.

Case in point, MY LS. haha....$600 does sound cheap, but if they really do good work (especially prep), then go for it!

They had a MR2 spider and a MAzda 626 sitting in the room as I pulled up. They had alot of bodywork going on. I liked the paint job on the MR2, so thats why I thought of them
