To change the color entirely and do it right is gonna cost you some bucks!!

I'm also planning on getting the car re-carpeted. My carpet is somany different colors. Once I get it re-carpeted I'll have an 80% brand new interior

Oh, okay. Sounds good.

But hey, that was different. I didn't know if you intended to leave them two different colors...

I rather like the new darker gray color as it matches your two-tone seats too.
I personally wouldn't worry about the underhood area being left alone. How
many folks are going to be looking under there anyway. If you are going
to a unibody color for the entire car, you might go to some website that might
let you superimpose that color on your car to check it out. There are a lot of silver 400s out there, but you would probably have a unique 400 with that color. Know that it will make the car hotter in the summer, and be sure you really get a good painter to prepare that entire car properly before
painting. Pre-paint preparation is the key to a good paint job.

My vote would be to keep the car the original color.

Allright guys.. The car went to the shop today. I'm getting it repainted in SGM, and it is getting the full treatment: door jams, trunk, under hood, engine bay, everything.

I'm extremely nervous, very scared, and very excited all at the same time.

Can you share where you are getting the car re-painted and the cost of the total repaint?

original. I just redid half my car, not the most perfect paint job in the world as the paint on the trunk is "banded" and I didn't blend all the way into the doors, but I plan on redoing the whole car in the future, maybe use it as a guinea pig for Sikkens Autowave waterbased paint...

Wasn't that hard. Prepping was a ***** though. Like I said I could have done better, and I should have mixed more paint. I used Sikkens' Lesonal line for primer-surfacer, basecoat and clearcoat, and Sikkens for etch primer and sealer. The paint was free, can't complain.
