Can timing be retarded on the 1uz motors?
The reason I ask gas is getting more and more expensive. If it keeps going up, I don't think I want to keep driving my car. Also, what about E85...can't we adapt ours to accept the Ethanol with some changes to seals?
Look at what it cost per gallon http://www.cleanairchoice.org/outdoor/PriceForum.asp
I can't remember the name of the show, I think it was Horsepower Tv where they stated E85 is the equivalent to 100 octane. So, who is going to be the first here to convert???

I didn't think advancing time would be needed for the E85, but now that you mention it, very possibly needed.

E85 is higher octane, but you would have to make too many changes to the car to be able to take full advantage of it. E85 requires a MUCH richer stoichiometric a/f ratio to run properly, usually in excess of 9:1 a/f ratio. This would require larger injectors, and ECU mapping to handle the larger injectors and make the car run at the proper a/f ratios. Also, depending on what part of the country you live in, E85 can be very hard to find. Here in San Diego there's only 1 station that sells it, and they make you fill out all sorts of forms before you pump it saying what you intend to use it for. They'll also only sell it to you if you have a FlexFuel car that was designed to run on E85. It's probably different in Florida though. If you ask me, the ends don't justify the means.
