95-00 LS400 can use suspension made for 89-94

89-94 LS400 can NOT use suspension made for 95-00

it has to do with the strut length for UCF2x coilovers being longer than those for UCF1x.

because of this, the coilovers would either not fit a 1LS, or die prematurely from lack of travel.

but if the coilover has preload and height adj. wouldnt it be the same?
i guess maybe the height would be compensated

no, im talking about STROKE length. this cant be compensated by damper/spring tuning.

[QUOTE=PureDrifter;2758464]no, im talking about STROKE length. this cant be compensated by damper/spring tuning.

im not talking about dampering and spring turning, since the preload is set the stroke travel would be the same, only the height is adjusted by the lowered bracket thing, the the height is differnt, but the stroke stays the same. i duuno if im saying this right, but heres a picture

if its like this

the lower you go, the shorter the travel of the shock, since its not a preload, and height adjustable coilover

on the other hand,

if its like this
the springs stays at 0 preload maintaining stroke travel, while the height and the length is adjusted through the bottom bracket

i think as long as the threaded shock body has enough height adjusments, it can possibly work on both 1ls and 2ls

not promoting anything just borrowing pictures haha

im talking about the PISTON stroke, not the overall stroke.

piston stroke is limited by length of the piston itself. so theoretically i guess u could have a machine shop cut part of the piston off a 2LS coilover and put it on ur 1LS....

At one finger wheel gap, the car rides like stock, just a tad firmer. At the ride height I'm currently at, I bottom out on sudden bumps. I think I could fix this if I add more preload on the springs and adjust the damper.

Driving at this height is just crazy, I already blew out two tires due to alignment wear and cracked one of my exhaust pipes. I'm raising the car an inch so I can get this thing on the alignment rack.
