that was actually a misprint, I changed it.
I used the Potenzas and liked them. Pure Drifter makes a great point. When I switched to NITTO NT 555 tires I read reviews on discount tire's web site. I basically used their reviews to determine the best tire for my needs. The Potenzas though were a nice inexpensive alternative.

Hey Broker... Try out the Potenza RE960AS Pole Position...that's what I use.

They are $109 each for your size on tire rack. The best way to get performance hadling with tires is to also make the wheels larger. I have 18s on my LS and run the RE960AS, but my size is 245/45/18. IT handles ALOT better than my 16s ever could.

PLUS its one of the best rated tires.

And tirerack is filled with both good and bad reviews. It's a mixed bag. Not to mention it's people's opinions on the tire. Doesn't always mean they have a clue to begin with. For example: " it doesn't do well in the snow.." Really? A summer time is no good in the snow? lol..

I've learned to not trust what others say about tires. But, rather try them out for myself like you state. Most people cannot recognize understeer.. So , it must be the tire that sucks..

Peace.

I was just going to get the Re750 if I choose Potenzas because they are a summer tire instead of all season. for some reason the RE960AS wouldn't even show up for my car on tirerack, no matter what options I selected, until I simply searched for all 225/60/16 tires

Also, I'll be coming from Sumitomo SRIXON4's, which came with the car when I bought it. Can anyone compare these to any of the tires I'm looking at?

Compare how?

Wet performance is seriously lacking on the SRIXON4.

TireRack does a comparison test here: (dated 2003)
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...ay.jsp?ttid=28

Otherwise, you are comparing an all-seasonal tire to a summer tire. The summer tire will provide better dry/wet handling- but lack grip in the snow and colder weather.

The all-seasonal tire is going to have cold weather traction and last longer.

I'll presume you are also going from worn out tires to a new set. The new set will perform better.

Best of Luck!

This makes a lot of sense. The rain seriously compromises my handling with these tires.

I also live in Atlanta so I see no need to get anything but summer tires.

Well living in the ATL,, you really need to find something which can handle all of the wet weather you get down there. I know for a fact that snow is a foreign object to yall but when it rains,, boy does it rain. LOL!!! I was just there Thursday night and had to drive through that monsoon of a rainstorm yall had down there. Boy was I glad to leave there Friday morning and get back to MD that evening. BTW, drive 18 wheelers long distance for a living.

There you go. You are narrowing down your choices now one by one.

FWIW, I just installed 235/40-18 (f) & 265/35-18 (r) Fuzion ZRi tires. I have only driven for 50 miles - and they are merely street miles - but I am so far pleased.

It has rained quite a bit the last few days here and the wet traction was adequate. I haven't really driven these very spiritedly but I believe they will hold up well for the money spent.

I will most likely been on track (read = road course) next week so I can report back with results from a more serious test. (yes, I track my LS.. I track all of my vehicles. )

HTH!

FWIW I have these tyres fitted to my LS (225/60/16) -
http://www.yokohama.com.au/ourtyres/tyre.aspx?tyreid=64

They're not available in the USA AFAIK......awesome grip, and very little road noise as well. Much better than the OEM (in this country) Dunlop SP Sport D8Z.

I use 235/45/18's in a Kumho Ecsta SPT & they grip ferociously in the rain.
