When A/C is turned on, sounds like angry bees...

Could be, but these were Lexus parts in the traditional Toyota boxes and correct part numbers. I thought dealers were not allowed to sell aftermarket parts from alternate suppliers, this is news to me.

Hello,
yes thats exactly the same sound my ac makes! So whats wrong. I have this sound for a couple of years 7 or 8. I have the ac serviced every 2 years. Is the oil level to low?
System works perfect.

My 99 LS400 with 66k miles now has a squeaking/squeal type sound thats very low without the A/C on that you can only hear from standing over the front of the engine and it sounds like its coming from the top of the main belt area like a pulley is loose or going or the belt is loose..
Thing is when the A/C goes on (which runs perfect though) the sound gets louder that you can hear it from the car with the door open.. of course it gets a little louder when you rev and then the revs drop back down.. after driving with the A/C on for a few miles and stopping at idle the sound isn't really there anymore.
Could this be the A/C or belts/pulleys
I am having the car looked at this week to find out for sure because I have to take it on vacation and need no surprises..
The drive belt does look a little old but who knows.

It's either the clutch or the compressor itself, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping its the clutch, cuz the compressor is going to cost a bit to replace.
I just dont want it throwing metal bits into the entire system. That's really gonna suck.

haha, my thoughts exactly . I was at a stoplight and this 90's camaro owner was lookin at my car. HE musta thought my car was the ultimate sleeper.
Please somebody tell me whats wrong. I took it to a friend and he said its prolly just a pulley or somthin(ie nothin serious). My AC cools perfectly.
I was just gonna ignore it. but now i'm freakin out

Mine works great as well, only thing I notice that it dips in RPMS when the AC Compressor is engaged. For that reason, it should be the magnetic AC clutch, otherwise, I'd imagine it would be self-destructing and not providing that cool air.
I'll jump the gun and try one from a local pick A Part just to compare results. It's cheaper than rebuilt or dealer at the moment.

Hello,
but it sounds exactly like mine, and it only makes this sound when the ac is on. And than it comes and goes as the ac is engaged. So i dont believe it is the fan clutch.
