hey guys my LS is hard to start in the mornings or after sitting for awhile. im guessing either FPR or fuel filter. im gonna replace the FF anyway but just wondering if this was common. thanks

What do you mean by "hard to start?" Does it have to crank a while before it will fire?

I would check battery.. cold really affects how amps the battery can crank out.

starter is also a possibility.

but id check bat as sunnet mentioned first, followed by the FF and then maybe the FP. FPR rarely ever fails iirc. also could be indicative of one/2/more of the O2 sensors starting to give up.

its seems it doesnt have fuel primed to start the car. the starter turns over fine is just that it takes like 5 seconds to start but after that it is fine. the reason i say FPR is my aurora had the same problem and i swapped out the FPR for a new one and it cranked true every time.

I would take it to Autozone and have them do a free battery, alternator, and starter test. My car was weak starting a while ago and so I took it in for the tests. Turned out I had a "weak" battery, even though it was only 6 months old. Bought the top of the line duralast and it starts perfectly now, even after sitting. You've got nothing to lose but some spare time.

i honestly dont think its in my starter system. the starter turns fast which means the battery has plenty of life and the starter is good. ill replace the FF and FPR and let you guys know

I was told by the Lexus dealer that the 92 LS does not even have a fuel filter. What are you guys talking about?

I have the same problem in the morning so I am interested in your progress. My 1991 always takes 2-3 tries to fire up in the morning. Cranks fine but it like there just isn't any fuel. 1st try I can crank away and it will almost never fire...turn key to off and wait a couple seconds...crank again and in warmer months will usually fire right up but in colder months it will fire but usually chug a few seconds and then die...third try always starts immediately. For the rest of the day the car starts immediately.

A friend of mine suggested a seal(s) in the fuel injectors might have a slight leak letting the fuel system loose pressure over night and thus require some cranking to fill back up the lines...is thata possibility?

I put in a brand new battery when I imported the vehicle (now I guess its 1 year old) and its had this morning starting habit since day 1.

The Lexus has a problem with carbon build up in the air intake I have to clean mine about every 50,000 miles. I never thought that carbon could build up so bad but it does and after cleaning it out the car jumps back to life.
