I don't want to have to replace something that doesn't need it.

Thanks.
There are no parts in the suspension that require lubrication, so no.

Sounds like sway bar bushings to me, had the same problem on one of my Corvettes. You can delay replacement by lubricating them, spray some WD40 on them. Haven't really memorized where the ones on the LS400 attach but normally there are 2 in the middle section of the bar that are bolted to the frame. Easy to remove and replace, 2 bolts each.

I would try spraying them to see if the noise goes away and if so, order some bushings.

It is the sway bar bushing .
The left is the old rubber one .
The right is a urethane .

the inside of a bad one.
This is where your noise is coming from.

how much shud ball park labor rates be for sway bar bushings??

I also have this squeaky noise and I wasnt going to get new shocks, I only have 54k on the car.

--BUT

It is intermittent..the squeakyness only comes up on certain bumps.

Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it.

I will try a little lubrication first and then go to the sway-bar bushings.

I had my dad push down on the front bumber and I looked in the wheel well to see if I could hear where the noise was coming from. I am 99% sure it is from one of the bushings, now that I know what they look like.

What would you guys recommend for lubricating the OEM rubber sway-bar bushings.

lubricating would only be a temporary fix but if u want id use a SILICONE base lubricant, no petroleum based lubes such as WD40 as they would start to dissolve the rubber.

Replace them with these and they will then have grease fittings on them.

" Energy Suspension " Part numbers for 2nd gen LS are:

For the 1 1/16" front bar the part number is: ...............9-5162

For the 5/8" rear bar the part number is: ...............9-5153

its hard to explain..

Let me try...It's located Near your front tires....Near the control arm..

It's a real small peice...It's like a bushing on the front...and it attaches to the sway bar bushings..

the link pins usually go before the sway bar bushings and you can see if htey are leaking oil...

on this forum it seemed like this was his problem..

Thanks for the idea, I will have to do some snooping when I get it up on a lift sometime. If it isn't too much trouble, I would love to see a picture of what you are talking about.

I bought some silicone based lubricant, and I thought I would hit all the bushings and joints for good measure.

Thanks for helping out a noob, I really appreciate the help.
