Just reminding that you will need several drain/refill to get mostly new fluid since you can only get ca 2 quarts out each time.
My 1995 stopped shifting harsh after I had replaced most of it by putting in a total of 12 quarts.

I did it every other day on one of my lexuses. A total of 6 times. A lot of work if you need to go somewhere and pay for the lift etc as I did.
Also you need to get the level right. I used the method of putting in as many grams as I took out measured with a household scale. Much easier then using the dipstick each time which is not easy nor quick. My best guess is that 30 minutes driving should be enough to mix the oil well between drains.
Then in future you can do one drain every time You change the motor oil. I do that every 7k miles.

There are two other ways. I have tried both.

Nr 1. Propp up the car in front and let is sit for some time. days, weeks I do not know how long is needed. I did that on a LS400 that I worked on for a few weeks and 4 quarts came out when I drained! It seems part of it seeps down into the pan over time.
Nr 2 . On one LS400 I used a described method where you disconnect one trans oil line going to the radiator. Run the car in idle and allow the trans to pump out oil. You replace every quart that come out or more frequent . Stop when what comes out looks clean. Took me 12 quarts with very dirty ATF to start with.

If performing incremental drain and fill method, West Marine oil extractor is a breeze.

No jacking, or drain plug removal ( stripped threads or gasket) or catchment pans or draining.

Simply remove dip stick tube..

Removed exactly 3 quarts of transmission fluid.
Drain and refill required 15 minutes.

The drain reservoir is notched in quart increments.

Zero mess.

Great for engine oil changes...but you still.have to change oil filter.
