It would still be cheaper to install and auxiliary transmission cooler than to get the hatch shipped, so don't rule it out as an option. With a cooler it should be more than capable of towing a 1986 Corolla.

I'll make sure to document that burnout. lol I'll have my camcorder with me. I think the car will break in half instead.

Well contact your driver or shipper then unless you have a spare transmission at your destination.

I was towing a car with my little 2000 JETTA TDI turbo diesel with no problems and that was fun. I had no problem towing with that little beast but I have never towed with my Lexus.

These cars are known to wear out their transmission fluid quickly due to high temperatures. The A340E and A341E are very strong transmissions, but they generate too much heat for me to recommend towing much at all if the longevity of the transmission is of any concern at all.

the transmissions were not designed with towing in mind. you wouldn't notice any immediate damage most likely, but how many miles off the life of it did you just lose by towing? they're not tow vehicles.
if you must do it, turn off the overdrive!

I rented a big a$$ 16' truck to tow my Corolla and I'll have my brother in law drive the Lexus with no added weight. Thanks for all the input guys.
