MAF in 92 LS400
Hi, everyone,
I used K&N filter. Recently, I felt my gas mileage somewhat drops in all-city driving, i.e., 6-7 km/liter, compared to 7-8 km/liter I used to get. I read some posts about the possibility of contaminating MAF with K&N so I took a look at my MAF. It appears that it's not the hot wire type and is more like the Karmen vortex type - so it's unlikely to be contaminated at all and I don't think it will ever need cleaning.
Does 92 LS400 use Karmen MAF? If so, what years of LS400 use hot wire type?

Yes, a '92 LS400 has a Karman/Vortex type MAF. As far as I know, all LS400's came with that type of MAF. Toyota likes to use the Karman/Vortex MAF sensors. I think only the newest Toyotas are coming with hotwire MAF's.
