Back from the shop...
As some of you know, I was having vibration issues with my 98 (revving would cause the car to shake).
I took it to a shop specializing in toyota/lexus cars. We inspected my motors mounts and trans mounts. They're not too far gone but could use replacing. I'll do them first. They noticed that there was barely any vibration in the engine bay, most of it was inside the car. Could anything else be causing it... such as the driveshaft, steering column? Mind you, the car is not moving at this time.
Next, there was a clunk coming from the front right wheel. The mechanics looked at it and told me it was the trailing arm/strut arm and showed me the worn bushing. My second question is.. do I have to replace the entire arm or can I just buy the bushing off ebay and replace that?

Pictures of the trailing arm:
My front left ball joint has a LITTLE play, but I'll leave that alone for now.
Otherwise, the car seems pretty solid.
Thanks

Is there any benifit in ordering the whole rod as opposed to just the bushing? Can I get the bushing from the dealer?
I don't really want to spend extra cash seeing as how I have to shell out $500 (~290 parts, 210 labour) on mounts.

You really have two viable options here. First let me mention that the after market bushings such as the ones sold on ebay or by others are no where near as good as the OE parts. Those aftermarket ones actually allow the bushing to rotate within the assembly, the OE ones are “fixed” such that the rotation of the strut rod occurs by twisting the rubber in the bushing and not by rotating about the bolt as with your upper or lower control arm. The Germans seem to like this design as many of their cars use this design, it provides a tighter suspension and better feel but they do tend to wear more quickly. Anyway, as PD mentioned buy the whole assembly or if you want to save money you can buy the bushing separately under part number 48674-40051, however it’s going to take a serious hydraulic press to get these out.

Thanks for the input guys. I got quoted $47 on the OEM toyota bushing, plus install... should be done for under $100.
As for the front left upper balljoint, it has a little play. I can't really feel and difference yet. I predict it's still good for a few thousand miles.
