Default Timing Belt DONE!!!

Yep, I finally had time to drop off the car to the shop.

Changed the V belt, Timing belt, Waterpump and one tensioner, and air filter.
Total price about $650 with parts and labor.

The original belt loooked fine at 101k miles. Not a scratch or tear in it.
But now I can drive at peace knowing that I can go coast to coast if I want to with no problems at all.

You got a very reasonable price - original Lexus parts? Either way as you say, you can drive at peace knowing it has been done.

All Lexus parts. I always go with factory parts.

All that is left to do is the Engine mounts and thats it. I shall keep the car for another year, and then sell it.

That's a spectacular price, most places I know will not do it for less than $1K.

All Lexus parts - I'd say you definitely got a very good deal bro. I paid over $1,000 the first time and it is due again in a few months.

well the labor was about 250 and the parts where 350, thats tming belt, pump, and tensioner.

The best part is the guy who did work on my car has done it on another ls400 that belongs to the owner of the shop.

Wish I had a connection like that - you got a great deal. I know I could do it myself however I don't want to. I did it on a previous vehicle and it took a weekend so I decided I'd pay for it.

i found a water pump on ebay for $45 shipped then I had someone with a timing belt kit for $50. The only thing it didnt have was the oring for the thermostat housing, there are no gaskets to change on that job the water pump uses RTV, I went to the lexus dealer to confirm cause I wasnt sure. it took me about 5 hours to do it. the most tedious part was making sure all the pulleys were aligned, it was pretty hard to turn the motor over 20+ times with a breaker bar.

$650 is a really good price.....i called the dealer in my area, and they said the 90,000 service would cost $925.

my car is due for the 60,000 service and they quoted me $425.

i'm not mechanical AT ALL, so i really can't do the work myself.....you guys think it's a decent price???
