i like my first gen(92), it drives like new and i think its look is O.G.

that and there was a ucf10/11 on VSC with coilovers, bodykit, 19's, and other items that sold for 10k and was extreemely clean. all depends on what you want, ive only owned a ucf10 so thats all i can account for.....

Question '92 LS w/62K miles

I was thinking of selling my one-owner '92 (black w/gray leather, 16" GS wheels w/Michelin Pilot Exaltos), and wondered what it may be worth?

Except for the GS wheels and tires, it's totally stock, and in great condition. I have fixed the two things that commonly go wrong with these cars, i.e., a new power steering pump, and new A/C compressor.

The oil's been changed every 4K miles (Mobil 1), the brakes and rotors are less than a year old, the tranny fluid is changed regularly, the brake fluid's been changed, the differential fluid's been replaced. I even changed the tranny mount, even though it really didn't need it.

Jeez, I think I just talked myself into keeping it. It's really a great car, and I am fortunate to have it. I told my wife that if we ever sell it, I would only do so to have something different to drive, because we only go around once in this life, and I really like cars. But I know that if I ever let it go, I'll never have a better quality car.

I personally like the looks of the newer ones also, But everything I have read is that the 1st gens were the most reliable. Probably because they had LESS bells and whistles. The engines are bulllet proof.. and the pre 95's are a non interference engine. So that timing belt is not such a worry. BUT of course the older cars have more miles on them.. so the reliability may be a wash.

If you have the cash for the car, and money for all possible repairs, and maint. then I would get the newer car. There is nothing worse than going out in the morning.. looking at our car and thinking... DAMD... I WISH I HAD...etc. Get what you like if you have the cash.

I went with an older one because I had decided how much I was willing to spend for a car... ANY car... and just happend to find my LS in the process.

I got a 94 with 168K, all maint records back to 02, timing belt changed at 167K, and all new brakes. Engines runs great, uses no oil over 3-5K changes, and the oil stays clear for at least 2K. Trans fluid is pink too.

The car is not perfect.. dash misbehaves, and it will eventually need some front end work. But I only paid $4700 for the car.

Happy car hunting... and enjoy whatever you decide to get.

Wait for the right LS400 to come around. Be patient..whether it takes a month or six months...it is worth the wait. Buy Lexus.....no need to say anymore!

If you're gonna go 1st gen, get 93-94. I wish I did so I would get the R-134 AC instead of R-12.

Some people would rather get all the money at once, in cash.
