just out of curiosity....
is it possible to use a turbo from a V-6 and put it on a V-8? im thinking about putting a 1990 Toyota Supra's turbo onto a 1990 LS 400? i know that a lot factors can be crucial such as the mileage of the vehicle and the fact that a V-6 is a smaller engine than a V-8. But would turbocharging actually be beneficial eventhough it is a V-8? this is just all hypothetically speaking, of course. i went to a junk yard around my area and found an old turbocharged toyota and just wanted to see if it was worth grabbing it. any info would be much appreciated. thanks

ok thanks for the info. well how much power can the LS 400 transmission take? and how much "true" power increase would i get? i'm thinking about doing this. i have two close friends that work at a performance shop, but they work on the smaller displacement engines most of the time and they have done turbo installs. so trusting them with installing a turbo or twin turbos is kind of iffy. i just want to have a coooool huge intercooler showing at the front bumper. maybe i should just have it there for looks.lol j/k

No...the Supra doesn't have a V6 Turbo setup...it's a I6 Turbo (2JZ-GTE). You would not only have to custom fab the exhaust manifold, but you'd have to find a place to put the things...plus all the stuff that EPK said...have you looked inside the engine bay on the LS400? You'd probably be better off doing a 2JZ-GTE transplant if you're dying for a turbo or doing some sort of supercharger setup...

oh ok. now for the next question then. if i were to find a 2jz-gte engine, then how would it fit in the engine bay? i mean is there a motor mount kit for it? or everything has to be custom fabricated?

Seriously, if you have the money to do a 2JZ-GTE transplant, then you have enough money to buy a newer LS400....it's a LOT of custom work...I wouldn't bother wasting that kind of money on a car that 12 years old. Do a '97 or '98 or newer....
