damn man I miss the snow in seattle, I used to live on a pretty steep hill and around this time of year the streets would be packed with cars the couldnt make it up the incline. howabout you put some winter tires on the stockies you have and get a nice set of wheels for the summer be safe man Id hate to read an accident thread from ya.

LS - snow tires = hairy ride

LS + snow tires + TC = gets you anywhere you need (esp. with air suspension set on high)

Yeah too bad I don't have traction control

That's okay, I've become pretty good at correcting that rear end slide..

In most cases yes. My friend recently wrecked his jaguar by getting loose in an icy turn on a devided highway. He almost had the turn under control and he said traction control kicked-in, lokced up his sliding and and shot him forward into the wall.

They do OK on snow. I haven't been stuck yet, but I did have a scary moment where I was on a street, I came to a complete stop, and then the car just started sliding by itself into the curb.. The only way out of it was to put the car in reverse and go back very slowly

On ice though? These tires are terrible. I'm sure there are other all-seasons out there that do much better, but I don't think these Yokos do very well.

I went skiing 2 weeks ago and on some black-ice early in the morning the car started to fish tail....
I run Toyo all seasons, not sure which flavor...

They do just fine on snow, OK on ice except when starting off on an incline on glare ice.....I tend to roll slowly through uphill stop signs when the roads get like that.

Default 1999 LS400 in snow

December 2007 was a record snow fall here in Aspen,Colorado since 1934!
I hear a lot of that VSC kicking in sound Sometimes you have to start really slow in order not to lose traction and start spinning or fishtailing. I have stuck a few times before, but only in deep snow(like a foot, if it`s more then that, LS stays parked ), but overall, with dedicated snow tires(I have Dunlop Winter Sport M3) and VSC it`s not bad at all.

I have 160lbs of salt in the trunk and Yokohama Gaurdex snow tires. I usually turn off TRAC and put the pedal down. It sticks and goes with no issues. Fun to race SUV's at a red light

If I were you, I'd keep something other than 160lbs of SALT in your trunk if you need extra weight for traction. Some of it is going to inevitably get into the air and then end up on all of the metal parts inside your car.

I drove my LS once in the snow and it was the only time I ever got it to drift in the CompUSA parking lot
