cars don't MAKE you street race.....
but whatever.... welcome!
i say go with the 98-00 idea. those are my favorite. and please don't replace a CD player, in whatever you get. unless it's CF10 with a tape player, there's no need, the audio systems are already great.
keep it clean, keep it simple.

I disagree. I highly doubt anycar of that size would be much safer than a 5-star LS400. Have you seen the crash test of a Scion? And that special wall they crash into is suppost to be like hitting a car of the same size and wieght. The LS400 would do much better crashing into a truck than a scion would.

Without any research, I do agree that the LS would be safer in a head on accident... but there are so many different tests they run, and I bet the tC would beat out the LS on some.
The tC is rated surprsingly high

The results for the LS400 are largely applicable to 1995-2000. I doubt 1990-1994 results would be any better.

try that in a Tc, the paramedics and PD both told me that had i been in a corolla or scion (assuming they meant Tc) that i would have most likely be leaving in a box.

I have a question on paint, would it be better to keep the "two tone" OE paint job or pay a bunch of money for an entirely new single tone high gloss, show quality paint job if I'm going with a "somewhat" obnoxiously big JDM body kit, air ride and those wide 19"s ? (I like those sexy colors from Aston Martin DB9s.)

Kidding... I'm pretty sure the LS400 is safer than my tC.

I suspect that the tC would be safer overall. In a head on.. possibly even. But in a serious side impact you would likely be killed in the LS, and any other car without both Side, and Curtain airbags... There is just no getting around it... without the bags.. your dead. Or you may wish that you were dead.
The two crashes show in the previous post cant be compared.. the LS is being tested in an offset impact, and the tC is a straight head on, making me tend to think the LS may do better in the front crash.
One other thing.. make sure you check that trunk space for your drums, The LS has a deep trunk, but it does not go that far forward. the fuel tank sits between the back seat and the trunk.
I found a vid that is comparing and older big car to a newer small car... suggesting that bigger and heavier are not a garantee for better saftey, you MUST do the resarch comparing car to car to find out... There are some small cars (the Mini Cooper, Renault Modus) that are very safe... and some large cars that are NOT safe... (Chevy Venture/Pontiac Montana etc). and the other way around too.

I would keep the Scion tC.

I know for a fact. Take a look at any side-impact tests from recent years and notice how as a whole, newer cars are performing much better. Automakers are builder much stronger unibody structures and cars are performing much better in collisions of all types than they used too. I'd personally take a Scion tC over an LS400 hands down if my chief concern were safety.
