Seafoam!!!!
#31
I just used seafoam this morning and so far no problems, gonna drive to work in a little bit and then I'll be able to tell if it has improved anything. The smoke was not too bad but people on the streets were honking like crazy. Mind-you I live on a main road. (picture taken yesterday) You can also see why if I lowered my car it would probably scrape daily. changing oil tomorrow morning.

If you want to clean the gunk out clean the PS solenoid and flush the PS system. You'd probably ruin something by putting it in there.

If you can use it safely in an engine crank and the gas tank (which goes to the fuel injectors eventually with those lil seals), I don't see any reason why you can't run it in the PS system. I already plan on doing the fluid swap like I stated, but plan on trying out Seafoam beforehand to make sure I get all the crap out. I don't plan on screwing with solenoid though.

The solenoid would be good to clean because of all the gunk that build up on the screens.
the fuel system and engine are designed to run on "petroleum" products. Seafoam is a "petrolium product" and I don't think the Power steering system would be a smart place to put it since it runs on ATF.. . . . any professional advice on Seafoam in the PS system for avalon42???
I just wouldn't want to risk my PS system since it's a very costly fix.

Even seafoam knows not to add it to a hydraulic system.
I understand your reasoning but your rational is off , just because it is good for the goose does not mean it is good for the gander.
Sea foam is a great product to be burned off by combustion and high heat to dissolve carbon.
Do you have high heat in a ps system , do you have combustion in the ps system , do you even have carbon build up in it?
Also inside your engine do you have rubber hoses and seals in the head and block that will be soaked with a sea foam treatment?
If you really are interested in applying it to your tranny or power steering system , get seafoam for your tranny and add that as they also know the combustion product cannot work for a hydraulic application.
Let us know how it works out.

Yup, looks like Seafoam makes a Trans product. I'm going to go that route and see how different the solution is from the engine cleaner...

Trans Tune looks like a perfect solution to the problematic power steering systems in our LS400's.
I have often wondered if the failure rate of PS pumps would be as high if the fluid were kept in top notch shape??
