Default basic maint. info

sup guys, im planning a long drive to the bay area soon and was wondering if there was anything in particular i should get checked or replace. my car's close to 150k.

things ive replaced:
timing belt/water pump
new batt/alternator/power steering pump
about to do a full tune up (wires, cap/rotor, plugs)

ive checked my brakes/rotors/calipers (all in good condition)

is there anything im forgetting? i will change my oil/filter before i leave, is it vital to change my tranny/diff fluid too? (last changed about 20k ago)

thanks guys

Man if I complete my install on time for SBN I will be prepared to take a long trip to Florida. What did you replace your alt with and how much was it?

i good friend of mine is a mechanic and has hookups on factory toyota parts, only paid 250 for a new 100amp alt. i wouldve opted for a nice 160-180 amp unit, but my only hookup for that alt was gonna charge me 350 for the alt, plus another 150 to install (custom brackets...etc). the new alt seems to be holding up without a hint of dimming with 1100 watts rms. good luck with the install pete.

Retrodrive........ I just replaced my alternator. I bought the most heavy duty, highest quality alternator NAPA had. I bought it at the NAPA main wherehouse store in kearny mesa(I'm in San Diego too). I think it cost me $275 or so after I brought back the core.

Oh man, this is awesome! I might be replacing my one pretty soon (3000wrms). Do you have an address or a phone # for them? How many amps was the alt you got?

Ok, I just pulled out my receipt. The alternator was $249.00 with a $112.50 core charge. I believe it is 100 amps. This is what Lexus recomends for our LS 400's even with all the power hungry goodies. I told them I wanted the best and the most heavy duty alternator they could find for my Lexus. On the receipt the alternator lists for $328.21 and their so called net price is $249.00. This alternator has a lifetime warranty.

The NAPA main wherehouse store is on 7440 Convoy court. (858)279-8473. What's nice is they carry Royal Purple synthetic oil in stock and they HAVE the 20w-50w in stock!!! I think this should be perfect for my next oil change with my high milege(although in exceptional condition) engine.
