Mechanics will not do the carrier bushings?
Hi Guys,
I was about to change my carrier bushings (ADUS 505) on my 96LS. 2 mechanics have to told that the bushings are incorrect and saying the bushings is metal. I'm sure the bushings I got are the correct ones. My question is that do I need to keep the outer metal sleeve? I've read the tutorials and it gave no indication whether I have to keep the original outer metal sleeve. Maybe that's why the mechanics said the bushings are wrong? Do new polyurethane bushings need to put inside the outer metal sleeve and just pushed into the arm itself without the outer sleeve? Please help for my factory rubber bushings are totally gone! Thanks.

I just got Carrier bushing from the dealer for my 92. The outer sleeves are in fact metal, which is probably why the mechanics are saying you got the wrong ones. I know which ones you have b/c I sent you the link on Lexls.com. The Adus505 does not include the outer metal sleeves. The only thing that you have is the rubber/polyurethane bushing itself and the metal inner sleeve. You DO NOT need to keep the outer sleeves from the previous ones; just grease up the new one really good, and then push them into the arm itself. Sounds like the mechanics really dont want to do so because it can be a real PITA if one does not know what he is doing.

Someone please confirm this statement since I am going to do mine. I don't think you need the old outer sleeves with the after market bushings, that's why many people took them out buy cutting them with jigsaw.
