you should be able to, iirc thats just the trigger wire to move it down

It still works fine it is just the the auto movement of inserting the key that stops.

brother, pop your key cylinder cover off and disconnect this wire at the bottom, it’s what gets the auto tilt to actuate when you put the key in, it’s held by two small screws, hope this helps.

This is a 13 year old thread and the original poster hasn't been active for the last 13 years. Maybe this will help someone else though in the future if it's that easy and they search for this answer.
