Neofat I am having my lower ball joints replaced on my 91 lexus how does $300.00 including parts sound to you.

Hrmm.. Parts run you 150-160$,.. sometimes $180ish. So you are paying probably 150-200$ for labor depending on what this shop gets parts for.

I'd guess it is a couple hour job at best. Let's say they rate it at 3 hours.

60 bucks and hour x 3 = 180$ -- 300 - 180 = $120.

Sounds about right for parts and a 3 hour job. Shouldn't take them that long though, but they will still charge based on what other shops and dealership rates the job as.

I'd say you could get it done cheaper,.. but that isn't a total rip off. I just can't imagine it taking more than an hour to do the front LBJ's.. Maybe the shop either has very high hourly rates, or parts are higher. There are other parts like OEM bolts, dust covers and other specific things that can be replaced with the LBJ's if they choose to do so. (not necessary though).

A few Lexus mechanics and regular mechanics that visit the forum, I'm sure they can tell you exactly if the job is fair.
