i think it was based on the package ur car came with. the original owner probably opted to get the gold emblems but im sure u could get chrome if u requested it back in the day.

ok...check it out.

just got off the phone with my local dealership....$113 for all 5 emblems!

the front grille "L", the trunk "L", the trunk "LS", the "400" and the "LEXUS".

it's 5 emblems altogether. i think $113 isn't bad.

but...

get this...they want $188 to put them on! LOL.

i'll be doing it myself. now where the heck did i put that dental floss?

use a hair dryer, heat it up a little bit. use a plastic card of some sort and just start to slowly push the old adhesive off. thats what i did but my card eventually broke lol. i think the dental floss method worked the least because it breaks so easily.

I believe 3M Adhesive remover has been recommended for this. Someone can verify or correct.

- Also don't give up on the Floss method. Try it first. Buy some decent dental floss as well,.. cheap floss is fragile, others are stronger. My mother is a D.D.S so I've seen alot of it in my day =)

I would wonder why fishing filament wouldn't work,.. but I guess it is too course and would damage the clear?

i replaced the badges.....i found the best method was the blow dryer and credit card.....the dental floss was too cumbersome..kept slipping out of my fingers....as for the left on adhesive, some goo gone and elbow grease did the trick.

just that little update made a huge difference to the appearance of the car! next, i'll be removing the horrible pinstripe.
