Wheel bearing issue (I think)......
Has anyone ever had a wheel bearing or bearings go bad? If so, what are the symptoms?
The reason for asking is that I have noticed a definite increase in noise while driving -- it is something like a drone that can be quite bothersome at times. It seems tied to the wheel(s), I think; it increases at speed and I hear it on all types of road surfaces. At first I thought tires, but I'm not so sure.
I have a Gen II ('97) LS400 with 104k miles; it has Sumitomo Avids with about 23k miles.
Any help that you can provide will be very much appreciated.

rebalance tires+check alignment, then check front strut bars.
also make sure the tires u have arent known to become very noisy with wear, iirc the sumitomo HTRZ has this problem (or similar name)

Possible wheel bearing
I am in the process of ordering parts and getting labor quotes for all four bearings.
I have that humming noise and an inconsistent shake from the passenger rear. The shake seems to go away if raining or a hot rotors after driving.
parts for 2 front and 2 rear are $256 w/ shipping at Carson.

Why replace all four of them unless they are all bad? Why not just replace the failed one and tend to the others when they fail, if ever? Thanks for the info on pricing.
I wish you good luck, and thanks for replying to my thread. Let me know how it all comes out -- you could privately email me if you would rather, at:
