Default rotors

I had just replaced my front rotors on my 1991 lexus ls400 yesterday. I had bought a pair from Kragens for $50 bucks and they fit just fine.

Guys, there is absolutely no need to resort to personal attacks to discuss brake rotors and pads. Please be courteous and respectful of other members. This thread provides an excellent vehicle for discussion, and would prove beneficial not to close it, so lets keep the discussion positive.

its absured to think that you have to match a brand of pad to a rotor. logically it makes absolutely no sense. you may have good luck with it but you can do better with other combos. i have actually never ran the same brand combo. i always use brembo rotors and some other pads. I have used hawks, hp greens, portierfied s4's. All ran on brembo rotors just fine. I will be changing the brakes on the ls soon to a brembo rotor / toyota pad .

Yup. Even big name brands like Hawks, Axxis, etc don't even have rotors of their own so how is it possible to 'match' the pads and rotors?

Perhaps if you want with okay brand rotors with very cheap pads, you might run into problems with pad glazing. But the cheapness is a factor of the problem, not necessarily because the brands do not match.

How much better are the Brembo replacement rotors over the stocks? They're visually the same.

Basically the same. You're not going to notice any difference in braking performance.

I just replaced my front rotors with a $50 pair from Kragens and they work fine. I didn't even replace the brake pads because they still have a good amount of padding on them.

you JUST replaced them.

give it a few thousand miles and see if its all well and good.

you could prolly get away with it if you bed in the brakes properly and theres a lot of material left.

Have you not read the thread thus far?

More like trying marijuana by putting the resins into a brownie. Works just fine.
