What brand O2 sensors?
Hello all,
I have a 197K LS which is throwing a P0420 and P0430, and since it has its original O2 sensors I'm going to replace them. I've seen Walker and Denso on:
http://oxygensensors.com/catalog.php...7513#Location1
But I have no experience with which brand is decent. Do I need just the universals for $50?
The light is coming and going now, and started when I blew a hole in the Y-pipe. I drove it like that for a few months so I supposed I could have frigged the cats.
Thanks for any advice.

according to LexLS, universals will work fine if you're willing to splice the connectors:

if you're DIY this will save you a lot of money, if you're going to a shop they may not be willing to go non-OEM, for mark-up reasons and/or liability reasons.
edit: if you prefer OEM for peace of mind, I've had great luck with LPO (lexuspartsonline) for all of my OEM tune-up parts. denso are OEM when it comes to plugs, wires and rotors/caps, I assume the same would be true for 02 sensors.

OEM is denso, I just replaced my 2 after the cats.
They are universal splice wire ones.
Slightly different than the original ones by having less holes but designs change.
They work well but the light is now occasionally on and off instead of always on.
I have a slight exhaust leak , so that may be part of the issue.

I bought Denso universals from ebay (2 for $50) and spliced them. It lasted a whole day (luckily it was the day I went for the etest) and the Engine light came on.
Then I went for a voluntary gouging to Lexus and paid $160 for one. The Engine light has stayed off.
If you look at the OBDII tools graph, the new sensor has different characteristics.
