Shaking when starting
Well after a couple of weeks here past the 60K service, 2 days in a row now I have started the LS in the morning to be greeted by a violent shaking of the entire car, even while in gear. I realize it could be many things, but wondered if anyone here has encountered the same thing.
It's at the dealer now but of course is purring like a kitten and they can't find anything wrong.
BTW, it's a '97.

Does it seem like it is missing a couple of cylinders? My theory is that it may have not burned the fuel from that last time you drove it and the computer is trying to compensate for that when you start it from sitting for a while. Once it has warmed up, does it run perfect?

thanks for the reply. it does seem like it is missing. I tried it for 2 days in a row, tried pumping the gas pedal, but still it shook let it run a bit but ws concred to let it run for too long in that state. then on the 3rd day it was just fine. did not change the gas or fill it beforehank so I doubt it was that. rpm did not seem unusual either.

Violent shaking at engine start time in my experience has been from cylinders not firing or mis-firing.

Well since part of the 60K was to replace wires, both caps and rotors and the plugs.............
We the probelm has gone away and not resurfaced, the computer does not have any errors. So I guess it was a fluke?
Thanks for your help.

Did you have this problem before you took your car in? Now you take it back in to have it checked and the problem mysteriously dissapears? No computer codes, nothing?
Like I said, those are symptoms of mis-fire. If I know those symptoms, so does the mechanic at the dealer. My instinct is to reseat. What do you think his instincts were?
Just maybe one of the service guys re-seated one or more of the aforementioned items and the problem "mysteriously dissapeared".
I think they found the problem. They just don't want to tell you they messed up and caused you to have to bring your Lex back to re-seat a plug wire or something simple. That doesn't look to good for them, does it?
