What really chips my butt is that this election is a farce and these "stimulus" packages really do nothing. We're not going to be seeing any economic recovery soon...

They don't need stimulus packages they need to educate on spending more than you have . Not wasting natural resources like oil water and electricity like it is free. Remember these price increases are directly from idiots leaving toilets and taps leaking , idling their cars and other simple stuff that could easily change. Start getting public transit worthy to take and people might use it.
Oh well , lets see what happens. If it keeps going i will put my civic back on the road.

on my way to work last monday, i noticed gas went up 10 cents from the previous week. on my way to work this morning, it was 10 cents higher.

if you think about it, all our stimulus checks will be going towards gas....

BUT, they'll have to pry my cold dead hands off my LS's steering wheel, cuz i'm NOT EVER gonna sell it!

Good question. I think $5/gal is my limit before I need to sell...it would be very tough to do though since I've put so much work into it. We'll see what happens.

I was thinking about getting a small 150cc scooter for my short trips around the neighborhood. Looking on craigslist you can get a slightly used one for $1000-$1500 range. A scooter isn't a long term solution in MN though....

skp, I totally agree with you, people need to learn how to conserve. How hard is it to set back your thermostat when you're away or go to bed? Not hard. Do people really need to keep their houses at 80 degrees in the winter? No. What a waste that is. My wife was telling me about a co-worker that was complaining about their $600 or $700/mo gas bill. They have a very similar house to ours but our bills are max $190 in the winter. They keep their house at 80, we keep ours at 65. I'm willing to wear my sweatshirt during the cool months to save hundreds a month!

They live very differently & much more efficient than the avg. american.

While I don't like current fuel cost, I hate car payments & higher insurance more. I keep telling my friends that my 200K, 94 LS may well be my last gas burner.

If that holds true then it will have saved me a bundle.

Teddy Kennedy preaches the gospel of Al Gore up & until somebody suggest a wind turbine farm offshore of Hyannis Port.

The Chukchi Sea fields off of the Alaska coast appear promising but despite the facts that the State involved & the majority of its populus are all for further exploration & production we are hamstrung by our Gov.

We cannot possibly have increased drilling off the California Coast due to political considerations & no state is a bigger % fuel offender.

Really? Selling your car if gas hits $5? If you are serious, I would start writing that craigslist ad right now.

BTW, speaking of the safety of the LS, has anyone seen any crash test lab results for the 1gen LS?

A few days ago it seemed like $5/gal wasn't going to be seen here (in MN) for a while but now I don't know with prices increasing faster and faster. Where ever the prices go this season I'm going to ride it out. I'll just drive less and use my wife's 4cyl more. Plus when you hear about European prices it sounds like we're getting a bargain.

Seriously though, at what price would you sell? At $5/gal, $100 fill ups would hurt most average working folks finances. If you fill up once a week you're looking at $5,200/yr for fuel. I guess it boils down to a question of priorities....

i already leave mine sitting most of the week. i have a plymouth laser turbo i drive daily. great car, fun, fast(280hp) and 25mpg in the city, 30 on the freeway.

i took the LS on a trip last weekend, got 280 miles on half a tank,so it's good on the freeway, but around town not so much.
