I'll never sell the LS. Ever. My drive to work is 2 miles, 90% of it on a 55mph deserted highway, and I live within walking distance to the grocery store...driving maybe 5k miles/year, max.

When gas hits $6, buying another old 2.3 5spd Ranger for my drive to work and putting a supercharger & lextreme TC on the LS.

the question is, if you do sell, who would buy? if $5/gal. fuel were to happen in this market we are all in teh same boat, nobody can afford the fuel, so how many cars would be for sale with no buyers becuase of their fuel mileage?

I saw diesel between $4.29-$4.49 this morning depending on the brand.

My LS is only 2 mos old, and I just started taking the bus to work after premium surpassed $4. $4+/gal was my threshold and it got there much sooner than I expected. This is outrageous. I love this car so much, but will be driving on the weekends only!

You bought a new LS but can't afford gas for it?

Price of a barrel of oil has been dropping this week.

Let's hope the trend keeps up.

i wouldn't give her up. i'd make her just a weekend driver instead of a daily driver and find an old 4 cylinder pickup or corolla and make that my daily driver.

Very interesting responses. I wouldn't sell mine either. I'm adjusting as many of us already have-driving less, easing up on the pedal and so on. Is inflating the tires to 34psi really advisible? Removing the spare is definetly not a choice. Ran the car on lower octane the last couple of weeks(91 instead of 94), the result, lower mileage(about 50 kms less) and less performace/smoothness. This is driving the same route over the last month.First 2 weeks on 94, then filled up with 91. Guess I'm sticking with the good stuff.

My 95 LS is getting better mpg in the city than my old Ack Legend, which was a 3.2 V6. Im thinking that the Lexus V8 1UZFE is more efficient than a non Vtec Honda V6.

I have my tires at 40 psi. No spare. Fixaflat instead.

also new thermostat, sparks wires rotors and caps, o2 sensors.

18 mpg city. 91 LS400.

Excellent point. If gas hits 5 a gallon, fewer people will even think about buying an LS or any other car that tend to burn gas.

We're going to be in for one hell of an economic time. I keep reading articles about people selling off personal items on craigs list or pawning their stuff for money. These are perilous economic times that will probably be equivalent to the great depression.
