I guess if you are getting decent mileage and performance it is fine. Can't believe you have that many miles on a set - when you change them you should snap a photo and post it. I am curious how clean they are.

In changing the spark plugs on my 1UZ, I found some oil, not alot, but some on the top of my cyl #5 spark plug. Anyone know the cause of this? The plug was not loose at all.

I used it, maybe 10k miles since plug change. No issues so far, it never occurred to me not to.

the car did go 128k on the original plugs and wires, both still working perfectly and looking very much like those pictured. Replaced with NGK iridiums and stock wires, I'm going for 150k this time. The distributor, for that matter, didn't show any signs of wear either except for a slight crust on the very tip of both blades.

Still on original coils.

Sounds like you could have some blow by? Pretty normal I suppose depending on miles, etc.

Is #5 the one below the PCV valve?, it might just be buildup from that slowly leaking over time.

The original plugs and leads looked in remarkably good condition in my '95 when I changed them after 82k, shows lexus didn't cheap out on anything when building these cars The leads however were datestamped 1990

Maybe the spark plug tube seal is leaky?

Steve, that's good mileage. I'm averaging 22-23 mixed on my 97 at about 200K miles. Thinking about doing my valves, have you ever done yours?
