My '99 LS had a noise at hiway speeds that was like a droning in my ears. It turned out to be engine(2) and transmission(1) mounts. The engine mounts can look ok untill you get them out and compare them to new, you will see they are colapsed, same with the tranny mount. These bad mounts cause the drive train to be out of alignment from design specs. You feel and hear the rubber dampened vibration.

I recommend you use genuine replacement rubber. Some of the after market stuff is of lower quality and will probably fail sooner.
