wondering why my car is overheating

The cooling system if it has a big air pocket will usually equalize after a bit of driving. Make sure the reservoir is properly filled so that it draws the necessary fluid into the system. If it is empty and it wants to pull in fluid and all it has is air...more over heating type symptoms.
Check any relays related to the cooling system. On a car this age, moving the harness around can cause any brittle wires to lose connection/break. The other thought is the new thermostat is dead so it is not opening at the proper temp. There are some fail safe types and I dunno if this is what Toyota uses...if so it would be locked open.

bumping this old thread
my car has been overheating for the past few weeks (not too high) it would keep increasing and maintain the same higher temperature every like 5 days.. it got to a point where i said, i can't delay it anymore.. i had already gotten it checked, i was just waiting on some free time.. i was told it's most likely the thermostat, so i ordered one for $25 got it replaced this morning.. still over heating, mechanic guy told me, he thinks it's a broken head gasket.. so it's got me worried, told me to take it in to lexus to get it diagnosed and get a definite answer.. the reason why he thinks that is apparently there's air that keeps coming into the system, apparently it's sucking more air or something along that line, i forgot
i really don't wanna be the first bhg case you guys have heard of.. i'll keep everyone posted once i take it to lexus and get it checked out
