You don't need to be a professional to change a head unit. That would save you some cash.

Up to now I didn't really get the whole backup camera thing. Having never seen one it looked like a useless novelty. Today my power steering pump leaked onto the alternator so all the dash lights came on whenever I got over 10mph. Getting it fixed at the dealer so they gave me a loaner IS250 (last time I got an ES350, nice way to test drive cars).

I started to back out of the driveway and the camera came on. I didn't even know it was there. It was dark and a curvy driveway so that was pretty cool. It does make everything look far away though.

Anybody know the mounting depth for the front and rear door speakers? Also what's the best way to route the wires for the door speakers to the trunk? Gonna be putting in 2 sets of Rockford fosgate 4" t142s in the doors and run them off a r400-4 amp in the trunk. Still looking into a good free air sub for the stock sub hole. Thinking a jl audio w3. Any ideas on what to put there?

Default 98-00 LS w/Nav. Replacement choices (if any)?

Thru this whole interesting thread, I saw some great suggestions other members have shared regarding upgrades.

But, I have not seen any replies to the members who have Nav like me and want to change out their stock set up. The climate controls & other things the Nav touch screen controls I gather make replacement choices very, very limited.

All the upgrade pics shown are all (unless I missed something) done on non Nav cars.

I have had to replace my OEM Pioneer CD changer with a rebuilt unit 3-4 yrs ago. Ok for now, and thank God one of the crafty ,e,bers here had a Pioneer head unit for sale but eventually, I have to find a real solution.

So, I'm asking again, is there a brand and model of a CD/Nav that can replace the factory Nav unit & allow me to get rid of the antiquated glove box CD player once & for all? Appreciate any info you knowledgable members have on this, SOMEONE has to have overcome this issue. I know it won't be cheap. I would like a bit more power/punch, but not looking to go radical.

Thanks mucho! Love the site.

not sure exactly what you want, bt you can ditch the stupid nav and swap to an OEM Climate Control and regular Pioneer headunit without any issues. (same harness/bolts in)

There has to be a double din DVD unit that still controls a cd changer somewhere on earth. I don't really need Nav or DVD but I do want a backup camera w/o giving up my Naka changer.

but nobody works on the nak stuff.

Hey PD, thanks for the reply. Maybe that is a better way to go. I don't actualy use the Nav unit (e cept for CDs and climate) , the GPS is pretty cumbersome to use anyway.
So, I suppose if I were to go that route, I'd have to locate a climate control unit at a junk yard?

Curious as to whether you are able to flip the climate control with the double din screen to move the screen up higher. Stock location is a tad bit too low for my liking

it's been done, but it requires a new custom double din headunit kit, "creative" mounting, and trimming the climate control surround so it fits.

big steve relocated his to his center console iirc. Lexkost did what you're talking about.

I got a Pioneer P2300 installed a few weeks ago and it looks nice with it mounted flush i can take a picture during the day if your still intersted. I will be adding to it this weekend.

Infinity Kappa 50.9cs front door
Infinity Reference 5030cs back doors
PowerBass ASA 700.5

And later on will be adding a 12 in. Infinity Kappa 120.9w sub in the trunk.

Black 99 Ls400
