sure. it will bolt right into the stock bracket. you just need to make a trim plate. easy stuff. there is no stock amp for the door speakers, they al lrun off the deck whether it's nak or pioneer in 90 to 94 cars.

I have just fitted 6.5inch speakers to my 1st gen ls400,
The speaker magnets do bottom out in the box, had to cut a small circle for it to fit. But will seal it all up with a glue gun before i am done.
So yes, 6.5inch speakers do fit a 1st gen. And I have seen them in a 2nd gen.

I do a ton of audio clean but loud. as for my 91 ls4 i had to do a bit of modifications to my front door speaker holes to accept the newer 6 1/4 Focal speakers. if you know much these are about as good as you can get. granted there expensive. but hey its a luxury car why not ride in style.

Yeah, I put 5 1/4 MB quart Q line components in the front. It's a bit of a pain to cut the boxes, and i would recommend porting the holes on the boxes if you put somthing strong like that in.
Then in the rear just put 4" Focal CS's. Because I was outputting almost 100 watts per channel I rewired the car.
Total time it took me including amp and cutting holes in the firewall and such was about 20 hours or more.
If your going to upgrade your stereo do it right.

91ls400 Eclipse avn nav headunit with dvd, modded front speakers to accept 6.25 inch speakers and lets rears stock size, running focal speakers in rear and component focals in front with tweeters. Removed stock Sub to allow airflow between trunk and seating bay. 2 kicker comp vr subs with side ported box in truck. Will be doing a custom fit enclosure in a bit. 1 kenwood exceleon 4 channel 50wttX4rm for speakers, and 1 kenwood 2 channel 1200wtt for subs 500X2rm :] dynamat in doors around speaker cutouts. Yellowtop battery!

from all i've experienced, best speakers for component build are JBL, thats a brand i trust....and highly recomend.
even the small 4" for the 1st LS sound ALIVE....compared to all the other stuff on the market.

anyone have an opinion on leaving the nak in a 1st gen and just replacing the speakers w/ 25watt RMS components?
the two speakers & sub that still work in my car sound fantastic, any reason I can't or shouldn't just clip the wires going to the stock speakers and tweeters and wire in some new ones?

I need a CD changer magazine for my 91 LS. It has the Nakamichi system, looking on ebay, they have the magazines, but they don't specify if they are for the pioneer changers, or the Nakamichi ones. Anyone know what I should look for, or part numbers, or anything?
Thanks
Thanks

I appreciate that you want to try and keep you system stockish but when your looking at a stock sytem even a Nak needs to be changed out. The best bet is to take the whole thing out and start from scratch.
There are many head units and speakers to choose from. Get an amp and some components and your set. I went with MB Quarts Q line and Focal's with an RF 90 Watt 4 channel amp with a seperate sub and it wasn't the hardest thing to install.

How to change out audio on 2000 LS 400
I have a 2000 LS 400. It has the factory touchscreen Nav system, stereo and climate control all-in-one on front dash. I would like to update the system to new touchscreen DVD with XM and ipod docking station. Lot's of vendors sell this type of system but consistent answer I get is they cannot install because they have no solution for the climate control system, which is part of the Lexus stereo/Nav factory setup.
Has anyone successfully changed out this factory system (and found a solution to keep climate control running)? Is it possible? How?
