Antenna options...
...ok, I did a search but didn't see anything. I had a bent antenna, and replaced it with one of those Ebay ones. The damned thing didnt even last a month (the plastic cable broke off almost immediately.).
I can go to the junkyard and get a whole used assembly for $20, but I was wondering if I can do away with it for good.
So, I'm thinking of going euro or shark fin. Anyone run this yet?

I'm using a Hirschmann Power Antenna replacement that I picked up from eBay for $46.90 shipped. Got it from laynlow1 if that matters.

It is an awesome replacement piece, and I've had zero problems since I installed it. It only requires a 12+ constant, remote trigger, and ground (all of which can be found in the factory wiring). The only pieces I had to reuse from the old antenna is the bottom rubber piece and the outer fender rubber seal. Everything else was self-contained in the aftermarket antenna.
Here are some directions on how to remove the old antenna: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/powerantenna.html
The first thing you'll want is to purchase a $10 socket from Napa Auto parts (part# 775-9033). That is the antenna nut socket and it'll make removing the antenna easy. You can try the flat head screw driver method but I didn't want to risk it. You can use either a standard 3/8" ratchet, or a 11/16" wrench with the socket.

good luck!

Bit the bullet and got a mast from a 96 Camry, which is the same length feed and mast. Only cost $2 from Pick Ur Part. I love that place.
Those ebay ones suck.
The SC400 Antenna mod doesnt look clean on the LS400, so I didn't go for it. Thanks for the help though guys.

My '92 antenna stays fully retracted. I don't really care about it leaving there but I'd love to get a Shark fin. Does anyone have pictures of a fin installed?

When I bought the car in April, the antenna wouldn't come up, I replaced it with an E-bay one, and after a couple of months, the damn thing broke again and it's stuck in the up position. I've just left it as is, not being too picky about the appearance. If it wasn't for the fact that I often listen to AM radio, I would just force it back down and forget about it.
