is the 93/94 EGR valve the same as a 90/91? I saw ONE ls400 at the junk yard and managed to grab a door actuator and idle control valve. The parts were CHEAP, I should've gotten the EGR too

Nope, the years 1990 91 92 all use the same one, It changes from 93 and 94 to an Electronically controlled Egr valve By using a step motor to drive a little plunger like thing up and down in there, I opened mine up and it looks to have a crack inside where the wires are coiled around, I guess the heat kills them after so many years of the hot exhaust gases' flowing inside it. The newer ones have a electric cable going into it at the top right side of it that has 4 wires in a bundle. The old style ones work off a vacuum line.....

I am going outside in a few and will take some pics with my Cell of the Egr valve so people can better understand where the part is located for those who don't really know what it looks like...

Peace out everyone, will post pics in a few....

Did you ask the tech why its not triggering a CEL? Did he disconnect it when the engine was on/off, hot/cold?

He disconnected it when the engine was warm and running, he said sometimes it will trigger a check engine light and sometimes it wont.. did you try disconnecting it with the engine running and warm? i would reset the ecu and let the car run a bit and fully warm up then disconnect it...

Well i am stumped now, This suxs.. I got the new valve and installed it, car does the same thing, i guess the new valve could be bad too it dosent seem to be changing positions, the seller got it from a wrecked car that had ben sitting for awhile so who knows. If i go buy a new one and it doesnt work i dont know what it could be, does the Egr tube in the back of the engine ever get clogged? If its cracked does it cause problems?

If your car runs fine without EGR valve and you dont have a CEL, why don't you just block it? You'll be doing your intake manifold a favor by preventing dirty exaust gases from entering it.

How do i go about blocking it? Is it harmfull to the engine at all? if i do just remove the egr valve and use that little block plate thing will i have to remove the hard to get to egr pipe in back? is there any diagrams online about this also? thanks

You can remove, or else just leave the EGR valve in place, just sandwich the block off plate between it and the intake manifold. Then sandwich another plate between manifold and EGR pipe. Its a little pain in the ***, but use brute force to bend the pipe away from the manifold, put the plate in, and then bend the pipe back in place.... you'll know what I mean once you start doing it. Theres another plate that goes between the pipe and the headers, but you dont need to do it unless the pipe is cracked.
