There is enough room to do either one. Your biggest problems are going to be the wiring. Other thing to considers will be the tranny, custom engine mounts, custom driveshaft, as well as having to gut out the differential to replace with different gearing to handle all of the new power. Gears from TT supra will work, however the differential is not a direct swap as it is too small. You would have to gut them both and then swap; depending on the power boost you plan on doing.

Bottom line, it cam be done, but is an expensive mod.

One thing you have to remember with the LS. It is the HEAVIEST car in the entire lineup. This car was not meant to break land speed records. With enough interest and capital invested into the car, anything is possible. I think for what you are trying to accomplish, you will be sadly disappointed on the gains vs. money spent.

The LS has always been a very comfortable cruiser; certainly 1k% better than the Nissan Sentra. The ride quality will change dependant on the mods you do to the suspension, if any. Hmm,, you have a 90,mine is a 92 so we are in the same series(AKA first gen LS)

First I would research some of the common suspensions components that will need to be changed with a car this old. To give you examples; the Ls is notorious for eating the living daylights out of balljoints (relatively inexpensive fix), lower control arms will need to be checked/ replaced if necessary, tie rods and tie rod ends, can almost GUARANTEE that just about every bushing will need to be replaced due to age alone, and last but not least the dreaded upper control arms (very expensive fix,,$300 per side). All of these things will affect the ride comfort/quality of the car. Most common starting place for most people is to change the shocks on the car, and new springs/coilovers if you plan to lower it. Even though most places list the LS as having struts, trust us, the first gen has shocks. If you do not plan to do any suspension mods at all, the list I just gave you will be very helpful and should still be checked as a inspect/change anyway model due to age.
